Sepsáno
Free legal templates you fill in and export right in your browser.
Context
This one's my playground, sitting at the crossroads of a couple of gripes. First: when I handed in my notice recently, every contract template was the "print it out and fill it in by hand" kind, which didn't thrill me. Second: I'd noticed a lot of sites use them as a cheap hook to reel in traffic. So I decided to turn it into an experiment.
What I did
Sepsáno is a site with dozens of templates on offer (contracts, powers of attorney, housing and business documents). The heart of it is filling them in right on the page and then downloading a finished PDF or DOCX. No paywall, simple, comfortable. I don't collect any data - it all happens in your browser. To be sure the templates stay current, I anchored each one to its matching record on e-sbirka.gov.cz. When something changes, the system flags the template automatically - visibly on the site, and it emails me. After a manual check and any fixes, I clear the flag. Astro, export via pdf-lib and docx (Czech diacritics included), hosting on Cloudflare Pages, and the law-collection watcher running on my own VPS.
Where it stands
The site is live with 35+ templates, and I'm hoping it turns out useful beyond just being my experiment. What do you reckon - can a micro-project like this break through among a million outdated templates?
